Feels like Sunday Morning.. | Family Photographer |

On this wonderfully fresh morning I was greeted by golden sunlight streaming into a front yard behind a picket fence in Newcastle, NSW. I stepped from the salty air outside into a cosy haven, filled with the scent of fresh coffee and the sound of a baby laughing. Always a great way to start!

We decided on a home based shoot for this photo session, and for some really little bubs, staying in a familiar environment without too many new distractions can work best. As it’s all about capturing your family as you are now, in your special place.

Family Portrait Photographer

To photograph a family filled with love, is an absolute pleasure and joy. To see natural smiles and hear their real laughter while enjoying time together is such a treat. By being fully available to my clients before our photo session, I can help you create such a relaxed and ‘normal’ environment that my presence isn’t a hindrance.  For clients it can feel like I float in and out like an everyday visitor.

To see the gentle way bub was soothed, getting ready for nap time and the gentle way Mum and Dad kept her chilled and relaxed was heartwarming. Listening to Mummy’s lullaby with her Daddy by her side.. One very lucky little girl to be in home with so much love.

To see a friend of over 10 years as a parent, is so wonderful. Having already had so much admiration for Rach it was such an honour to be welcomed into her home to share this time with her family as they started their cruisy Sunday morning together..

Glimpses of Life & Love.. | Blue Mountains Portrait Photographer |

I know I have been unusually quiet of late which is not usually my style. For those fans that have been following me for a while, this post will seem very familiar. But right now it is all I have to say.

Mr K and I were in a 4 car pile up recently – we were hit from behind by a semi trailer when his brakes failed coming up to a red light. We are so so lucky that our munchkin wasn’t in the car, and that we walked away unscathed.

Right now I am busy processing not only images from shoots but also our experience. Another opportunity to be grateful for my life and all I have in it. I didn’t realise how such an incident could evoke so many emotions. So, as I heal, and steal many cuddles from Mr K and munchkin, I thought I would share/re-post this message, as it applies even more to my life right now.

From Tues March 15th 2011….

“I think most of the time I am pretty good at pausing to take a moment to be grateful for my life and all the wondrous things in it. But following the recent floods, earthquakes, uprisings and tsunamis, I am all the more alert and profoundly moved by the magnitude of these events. The impact of them on so many people in so many different ways, and total and utter devastation. It has my heart in my throat and tears in my eyes to try and imagine what people are going through. What they are feeling.

I want to share some moments taken with my iphone 3, I love them not for their amazing expertise or exposure but for the moment captured in time. The glimpse of beauty in randomness, the preciousness of the moment. The fragility of life and love. I have been ‘collecting evidence’ with my camera phones for years.

I can’t really put into words the emotions I have been feeling watching the news and thinking of all the people that have lost homes, loves, lives. I guess that’s why I am a photographer and not a copywriter.

This little girl on the ferry was so taken with the munchkin. For whatever reason there was a connection. She reached out, so childlike and innocent of social boundaries. She wanted to connect. Magic.

So often we can go through our lives feeling like we are trying to piece together a puzzle, always missing just one niggling little piece. It’s times like these I remember my puzzle is whole and complete.

Recently I have been dashing here and there, with a deadline here and a meeting there, I may have kept my phone in my pocket and overlooked a couple of these precious moments. Well world, you’ve got my attention.

Big loves. Annx”

Thankyou to everybody that has made cups of tea, sent messages or flowers, or called to give us your support, we appreciate it more than you would know…

A Trio on the Loose in Sydney!

Wow. Kids can be pretty busy these days! In between soccer, football, music lessons and homework – plus surprise sleepover parties to go to, kids have can a full schedule. I was lucky to sneak an hour with this handsome trio before I blinked and they all turn into young men with attitude.

Still fresh faced and finding joy in chasing a ball in the park, it was a pleasure to chase around and catch the genuine smiles and laughter on a sunny autumn afternoon in Sydney.

One thing that was important for their Mum in this shoot was capturing this beautiful phase of their youth, with Lachlan just entering high school, and little Cammy still fresh in school. There’s a whole new phase just around the corner, and Mamie wanted to eternalise this beautiful time together.

We shot fast paced, chasing the late afternoon light to keep the boys moving and engaged with each other, and the photo session.

Over 5 years ago, when the family had only 4 members, they had family portraits done in this very park. It felt so special to be returning to the same place and capturing a new era for this wonderful family. Just a little less crawling & dribbling, more cool rock band with attitude..

1st sneak peek of the new blog!

May there be many more to come…

Love Annx

A New Beginning..

As autumn in the Blue Mountains begins to crisp up rapidly, and cosy fires start to scent the late afternoon air, I walk briskly among piles of crunching leaves, taking it all in.

As the season’s shift and the leaves change, a new phase is about to begin in my life. This metamorphosis has been occurring over many months now, and what you see is the expression of my inner self brought out to onto a page – a webpage, and into existence as my new brand.

Over the Moon Photography is born.

A little bit feminine & little a bit down to earth, mixed with flavours and accents of retro, eco and a little something else..

Life is a wonderful journey and from working in a darkroom at University while I studied, to assisting and training under Australia’s top advertising and editorial photographers, and then stepping out on my own for a few years, I am very excited to have you here with me as I capture the love in the lives of others, and share it with the world in this new part of my adventure.

In addition to sharing my recent photography and sneak peeks, I am going to share links to awesomeness, and ideas for how to green your wedding, or some handmade wonder somewhere. Plus a couple of my personal artsy fartsy shots, and pics of my adorable munchkin.
