Tracy & Steve’s Mountaintop Elopement

Boy from Perth meets Girl from Colorado Springs – during duty in Afghanistan. Boy & Girl travel the world solo to meet & marry in the Blue Mountains. After weeks of tumultuous weather (snow, sleet, frost damaging winds), on an afternoon of splendid warmth & stillness in the air, they pledged their love to each other on the mountaintop. The only sounds were the birds in the trees, gentle laughter, and honest loving vows.

This is My Space

I still recall the pride I had in having my own space as a little girl. To shut the door and hide away from the burly big brothers. To have my own space, was bliss. Two little munchkins shared their space with me, and showed me their treasures they have made and found. And also how high they could jump! Oops!

What is lovely about owning your own space is that you can invite siblings in, and when you ‘need space’ you can claim it back.

Ah.

Cupcake Capers | Family Lifestyle Photographer |

I absolutely love this series of photographs! Not only did I get to be a fly on the wall when this pair got to do one of their favourite activities with Mum, I was also allowed to try the final product afterward. What a treat. I love Mel’s willingness to let her kids be creative and free whilst safe in their activities, I loved watching their true expressions as they journeyed together from flour to mush, to cupcake creations. What’s fabulous about this approach to family photography is that the kids last longer in the photo sessions! Engaged and enjoying themselves, they aren’t wriggling and squirming out of a false cuddle with Mum, or sitting on ‘the spot’ for more than 5 minutes. And well, it’s just plain fun!

Well what a lovely morning escapade in Salamander Bay I had recently! We had so much fun, and got so many wonderful shots I think I may have to do 2 or 3 sneak peeks! This gorgeous family moved to the pristine area where I grew up just over 2 years now and to see them thriving and so at home, out of the bustle and rush of the city, was a dream.

I love our time prior to a shoot when we are creating a photo session, talking about a families dreams and what is special to them, what they love to do together. Some families like to create an outdoorsy adventure, but generally hanging out and being together is enough.

Settling into a new home, a new community and making a cosy haven can take time., creativity. Dad was very proud of his handiworked home boardwalk.

The love and affection this gorgeous family have for each other is infectious, in a coming post we’ll get a sneak peek into their cosy haven and morning activities. With such a loving Mum and Dad these kids are a very lucky little pair.

A Gift of Love | Blue Mountains Photographer |

Every now and then it is lovely to get a reminder, an affirmation that all the love and energy I give is received and appreciated. I got this email on Monday morning coming into the office, after knowing my client had bought her Gift Voucher for her best friends Baby Shower gift…

“Hi Ann,
Thank you so so much for the gift certificate and information for Jordyn & Zo. I actually got a bit teary (in the best kind of way!) when I opened the envelope. You have been exactly the kind of person I was hoping to find to do these photos, I can’t thank you enough for your kind help and flexibility, and for your extra bit of effort and care.

Again, Thankyou!

Kate.”

I am so glad Kate loved it so much. But if you are being generous in giving a gift such as a Bub to Bump Package, you want to have something gorgeous to give your loved one so they can share the excitement straight away, don’t you think?

I got the inspiration for my gift vouchers from my own wedding invitations. For a number of weeks in our planning phase we visited paper stores, researched online, did the rounds of some more markets and stores, and then decided to purchase from ‘Amazing Paper’ on Enmore Rd, Enmore, Sydney. The ‘ingredients’ of our delicious invite were from various sources, as sustainable and suitably matched as we are to each other. Which is perfectly..

For a while I was considering getting a DIY package to put together, or buying specifically designed invites printed in recycled materials from someone far away on ETSY, or generally, online. I personally love being creative, in my photography and in other areas such as craftiness.. so we made our invites and I am so proud of them, you can see why I would continue the theme every chance I get in my business.

The deep brown backing card is called ‘Bier Bock’, at 250gsm it was the perfect weight for a backing card and is made from recycled beer waste. What Australian groom would not relate to that?  I mean, even I think that is an awesome usage of waste products! The divine top sheet is ‘Via Felt Cream Text Paper’ and is 30% recycled and made using wind generated electricity. I am proud of the research and commitment we put into our invites, and that I can make top quality, even luscious gift vouchers for my clients to give to their families, each handmade with love.

The smoothly textured green top sheet is a Japanese paper made using all natural fibres using traditional techniques that involve the use of no chemicals whatsoever. Each layer is held together using some simple zig zag stitching with the sewing machine. Even following the invitation theme each voucher has a magnetic strip on the back so recipients can post it on the fridge as a reminder to get their family organised for an adventure in their favourite location with me!

I feel each lovingly handcrafted gift certificate represents an aspect of who I am as a person as well as a photographer; committed yet not abrasive in my commitment to the environment, creative and passionate with a quietly understated sophistication..

But most importantly, it is made specifically to each client. There is no pile of pre-printed vouchers sitting here waiting to be mailed out to every Tom Dick and Harriet. They are Bespoke creations made just for you. By me.

What a gorgeous Baby Shower gift. I can’t wait to meet Jordyn & Zo, and capture this beautiful last phase before they become parents together.
